From what I hear, they have a test that can test for the flu. They can get results in minutes. So ruling out the flu couldn't be any easier. If you are sick, that drastically limits what the cause for symptoms are.

The Spanish Flu killed so many because of malnutrition and lack of modern medicine, such as no antibiotics to treat opportunistic infections. If the Spanish Flu hit today, and no one had immunity, it wouldn't be any worse than the flu that already went around this past winter.

There was more food back then than there is today. Also, if you watch the news at all, you would see that there are hospitals that are already struggling. If it becomes more widespread, there is basically going to be as much lack of modern medicine than they had back then. And as I said, with coronavirus, nobody has immunity. But with flu having been around for so long, people have a little immunity to it. For the native Americans when the Europeans arrived, they had no immunity. Millions died. But the smallpox was probably worse.

Actually, it does. They have a test that can test for the flu. It has been around for quite some time. But coronavirus is new. It is going to take them some time to come up with a test that works as well as a test for the flu.
