    Default Latest BS on coronavirus.

On the news last night, they showed what was supposed to be an expert saying that in a best case scenario, about 250,000 people will die from the coronavirus. WOW! Is that wishful thinking! In the 1918-1919 flu pandemic, 675,000 people died in the U.S. And the coronavirus is probably even more contagious. Partially because people had at least a little immunity to the flu. With Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2, there is no natural immunity. Also, back in 1918-1919, there were about 130 million people in the U.S. And most lived a much more rural lifestyle. Today there are about 319 million people in the U.S. And less live a rural lifestyle. Then there are planes and all the automobiles on top of that. Unless things change drastically, (which under Trump they probably won't) I would say that the death toll will be in the millions. Will we see people walking down the streets with carts and calling out, "Bring out your dead!" Who knows. One thing that is for sure, (because you can already see it happening) as the rate of infections increase, our ability to treat people will decrease.

Also, worldwide, the 1918-1919 flu pandemic killed anywhere from 17 million to as many as 100 million people. Exact figures aren't known. And back then there were about 1.8 billion people on the planet. Today there are over 7 billion. Maybe Trump isn't a fool. Maybe he is just evil. Back when HIV started to become widespread, some people didn't see it as a problem, but a solution. Because it killed mostly fags. Maybe Trump doesn't see coronavirus as a problem, but a solution. And if it becomes widespread here, the success the Chinese had in stopping it will have been in vain. Maybe for Trump, this is a solution to the overpopulation problem. And seeing how most of those who die will be the elderly and those in poor health, they can save a lot of money on health coverage and Social Security.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention counts only deaths in which the presence of the coronavirus is confirmed in a laboratory test. “We know that it is an underestimation,” agency spokeswoman Kristen Nordlund said.

That does bring up an interesting point. Doctors are good at spotting symptoms and knowing the probable cause. If a doctor can tell from the symptoms that somebody has coronavirus, do they bother testing for it? After all, not many people who get the flu have to be put on a ventilator.

I would like to say I agree. But it is going to get to the point where many people need medical help, but just can't afford it. Who knows how many thousands of deaths it will take. But sooner or later, the government is going to have to step in and provide free health care. Just like most (if not all) of the other developed countries already have.

Why do they test for strep throat, tuberculosis, mumps, sugar, and a whole array of ailments? To be sure, the flu and COVID-19 aren't the same virus, the later is novel

The Spanish Flu killed so many because of malnutrition and lack of modern medicine, such as no antibiotics to treat opportunistic infections. If the Spanish Flu hit today, and no one had immunity, it wouldn't be any worse than the flu that already went around this past winter.

Antibiotics work on bacteria not viruses. The experts know about the Spanish flu. The body has to fight nit off. That is why people with poor immune systems do not do as well. But we are more efficient at treating symptoms.

Hey, you mutherfcking $%^%^&*&, don't you ever presume to correct me again!

A common complication in severe cases of the flu is bacterial pneumonia. Too bad you didn't understand what I meant by "opportunistic infections" in the post you were attacking. Bottom line, if the Spanish Flu struck today, it would be no big deal, at least not any worse than the flu of this past winter. Don't you ever dispute me again!

There is no free health care.

Free health care for illegals (non-citizens)?

    Isn't Medicaid free?

Illegals get free healthcare because gov't funded hospitals are mandated to treat them even though they can't speak English, they don't have a current address, no photo ID, no SS#, no money,....
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

From what I hear, they have a test that can test for the flu. They can get results in minutes. So ruling out the flu couldn't be any easier. If you are sick, that drastically limits what the cause for symptoms are.
