Difference is medicine/science has come a long way since then, we don't bleed people anymore, and to downplay their input in fear of losing politically results in responsibility
Not actually. Woodrow Wilson’s response to the American public about the Spanish flu was absolutely identical to Trumps. He lied. He was more concerned about panic and the political consequences or how it would affect the war effort than he was about public health.

Interestingly when he could no longer quash the news the primary response was essentially the same. Social distancing and quarantines were implemented.

Just curious, does anyone know what Woodrow Wilson (D) do to stop the Spanish Flu?

Were all of the deaths from the Spanish Flu Woodrow Wilson's (D) fault?

Limited thread bans so no excuses
He lied and held parades to convince America to join a war he promised not to join when he was running.

Rubbish. Trump denied travel between Wuhan district and the US before CDC asked him to, he did not hold a parade in Philadelphia filling the hospital beds in, literally, one day. Trump's response was not anything at all like Wilson's was to the flu.

Pretty similar to this honestly, he denied it through state propaganda and had people go to liberty bond parades to pay for his war

He did xenophobia that he wanted to do anyway and then patted himself in the back for two months totally unprepared with medical supplies

Technically Wilson did not order the Philadelphia liberty bond parade FYI, it was the decision of the Philly health inspector to allow it to go forward

Back then state of the art medicine was chewing your limbs off for sepsis. Wilson gets a pass for having no answers.

They found that sunlight killed the virus so they moved patient beds outside during the day then back into tents at night. They also gave plasma from recovered patient to sick patients much like the plasma therapy we are starting today. The plasma given in the Spanish flu cut death rates in half for patients that received the plasma'

I've always detested Wilson, but, I also have a difficult time attacking him on this one issue. The Krauts practically begged us to enter the war by engaging in the stupidest diplomatic blunder in history via the Zimmermann Telegram. Not quite as automatic as Hitler simply declaring war on us, but, pretty damned close.

That said, Wilson is remembered as the most straightforwardly racist president of all time.

An Ancient Greek walks into a tailor shop with a torn pair of trousers.

    “Euripides?” Asks the tailor

    “Yeah. Eumenides?” Replies the man
