Hello Centerleftfl,
I hope Republicans are not claiming they are unable to deal with more than one issue at a time...
What are they suggesting?
That the impeachment should never have been brought?
There was overwhelming valid evidence.
The American people wanted the impeachment.
Republicans mocked that it was delayed. They wanted it to be brought faster.

so where is the crime for impeachment?
Dems talked a lot of shit like "bribery and extortion" -but they did NOT impeach on that.
It's was partisan crap -a sop to the AOC branch of the Dems
DEMS wanted Impeachment - Trump approvals went up because of it -it was not "wanted " by the peopleThe American people wanted the impeachment.

Hello dukkha,
There was overwhelming evidence. It was the duty of the House to bring that impeachment. They owed it to the American People to protect the Constitution. They all swore to bear allegiance to the Constitution, NOT the president. Democrats did exactly that, but 99% of Republicans bore allegiance to the president over the Constitution. They flew their president flag over their American flag. That's not a co-equal branch of government. That violates the Constitution.
That's the Republican story. It's needed to justify that view. It is also not exactly accurate. It's purposely bent to support that narrative. Sure, the most extreme House members wanted impeachment from the start. Their point was it should have been on emoluments, and various reasons depending who whom. Maybe they had some valid reasons, maybe not. The point being, that was a handful of people. The Republican narrative extrapolates that handful into becoming the entire Democratic party. And that's just not the case. The majority of the Dem Party was against impeachment until the whistleblower story came out.

"Trump approvals went up because of it -it was not "wanted " by the people"
That's not correct. A majority of Americans wanted the impeachment. Democrats wanted it for the chance to remove the president and Republicans wanted it because they felt it would only boost the approval polling (the same polling they said was not to be believed.) And everybody knows the approval polling is embarrassingly low, unable to even ever get half the nation to approve of him.

Trump approval went up for the same reason potus approval always and without exception goes up in a crisis: Americans are dumb cows
and get all nationalistic and shit during these things.

Non-removal of Sweet Potato Hitler added to the ineptitude and lack of preparedness. Ya hear that Susan Collins?

BLUEXITA Modest Proposal For Separating Blue States From Red
Dear Red-State Trump Voter,
Let’s face it, guys: We’re done.
It is a tragedy that so much of the work that so many men and women toiled at for so long to make this a better country, and a better world, has been thrown away, leaving us all in such needless peril.
This is why our separation in all but name is necessary.
