Default Will you die for your grandchild?

The ‘Let the Elderly Die’ Chorus
Some conservatives—including supposed ‘pro-lifers’—say we should quit social distancing. Is it the economy they want to help? Or the president?

Tx Lt Gov Dan Patrick says grandparents would be willing to die to save the economy for their grandchildren.

If every family has to lose someone during this pandemic, I'd rather it be me than them. That being said, it is stupid to pretend that only the elderly are going to perish from this virus. As we've been seeing in the U.S., in many areas (New York is one of them), younger ppl are the majority of cases.

"People between 45 and 64 in New York seem to have the highest number of COVID-19 cases per capita. The data also shows that New Yorkers younger than 17 face less risk — fewer than 450 cases have been reported in the age group, and only 6% of those cases involved hospitalization."

These are ppl in the prime of their careers and earning capacity, and therefore more likely to spend money and fuel the economy. They're not doing much of that if they're sick or dead, eh?

But sure, let's open everything back up and see what happens.

Perhaps, as Mark Twain observed, it is better not to know so much than to know so many things that aren’t so.

The only question is just how many seniors you would be willing to sacrifice in the name of Trumps re election.
