    Interesting. Let's find out.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
    - -- Aristotle

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.
    - -- The Buddha

    .
I have to give him credit for admitting he was wrong, pity he couldn't have seen that sooner though.

    .

I think they're starting to walk it back - and so I'm going to stick with my prediction for the worst of this to be over by mid-April.

The mood music is changing here in the UK as well, perhaps to get us more in line with President Trump's more optimistic hope of getting his country working again by Easter.

Only a few days ago, we were looking at an open-ended period of lockdown with no light at the end of the tunnel other than a vaccine which was more than 18 months away.

However yesterday, Dr Neil Ferguson of Imperial College London, whose modelling has been central to Government decision making, told MPs that while there might be some individual spots of high pressure, at a national level the NHS would not exceed capacity.

He also said that the number of deaths may be below the “best case” 20,000 he outlined a few days ago, and that perhaps two-thirds of those deaths were likely to be of people who would have died this year of other causes.

At the same time, a modelling from Oxford university is causing a stir in finding that Covid-19 might have arrived in Britain a month earlier than thought and that 50 per cent of the population could have it already.

That would match up with the report today that Britain's patient zero could actually be a British tourist who returned from a skiing holiday with the virus back in January.

If correct, it would mean that the vast majority of cases are asymptomatic, with hospitalisation rates possibly as low as one in one thousand, and that herd immunity may actually already be close.

If so, all being equal, the lockdown could be short-lived and their only problem then will be coming up with an explanation for why it was so virulent in countries connected to China's Belt and Road network.

In the beginning, we knew nothing about COVID-19 except that it was lethal. We still know very little. If anything, he's speaking prematurely. The scientists predict that this will worsen before it gets better.

I don't know if you realize this, but those numbers imply that COVID-19 is far, far more deadly than H1N1.

    12,000 of 59 million = 0.02%

    1,036 of 68,594 = 1.5%

Think about that. If COVID-19 were to reach the numbers that H1N1 did,

    1.5% of 59 million = 885,000.
