There is a reason for the extreme worsening health outcomes for trump voters, which is not happening for other Americans... Or really anyone else in the world. Syria has worsening health outcomes, but it is for an obvious reason, not this mystery reason.

Whatever is happening, it is BAD. American life expectancy has dropped for three out of the last four years, all because one subset of the population. More Americans have died from this than died from AIDS.

Is a virus the culprit? It is a hypothesis, but I would say a cultural change is more likely.

Stopping the flights probably saved lives.

The problem is trump did not stop flights. he stopped direct flights. Everyone was still allowed to travel from China, they just had to have a short layover. The direct flights were more expensive, so it did not even cost more money. trump did ask people to pay $10k for quarantine flights, but many people decided to pay a lot less and just fly a normal flight into the USA. When arriving in the USA, there was no attempt to screen people for health.

Two cruise ships full of sick people were just allowed to enter the USA. Passengers were literally throwing up as they hailed cabs to travel throughout the USA. trump actually allowed sick Russians who did not have visas to enter the USA off the cruise ship. So they were sick, illegal aliens, but because they were white, trump was fine with that.

Lets start with Morrison's background. He has no medical training, and has never held a job involving public health. He does have some counterproliferation background. He was not a good choice Senior Director of Counterproliferation, but that made some sense. Getting rid of Biodefense and rapping it into Counterproliferation made no sense. Getting rid of Pandemic Response, and rapping it into Counterproliferation and Biodefense, also was a huge mistake. So we end up with Morrison who was incompetent to lead Counterproliferation somehow in charge of Pandemic Response?

One can never be fully prepared for a pandemic. Any "expert" who says we were is a liar. Right off the bat I know Morrison is a liar. A real expert would say we were not prepared, but tried our best.

But the lack of a pandemic team capable of going to Wuhan just proves he is a liar. Even Mexico was able to send one doctor, America sent no one. We had to beg the Mexicans for a sample.

And then there were the tests. Obama was able to get a million tests done in the first month of H1N1. We are now three months in, and trump has not done half that.

Finally, every intelligence agency told trump that the Chinese were lying, and that this was going to be bad. trump chose to believe Xi Jinping over his intelligence agencies. Even after Xi had given up on the lie, trump clung to the lie that this is all a hoax.
