Doggy doors and fenced in backyard are great for dogs. Cats too since I no longer have a litter box in the house.

I built a cat apartment encasing a window so I don't have a litterbox inside either. I clean it from the outside with a door on it and used hardware cloth and wood framing to build it..
I can't just let them have in and out privileges at night. Too much predation great horned owls red tailed hawks washbears and coyote. In the daytime my gardens
are cat heaven. In San Diego just leave the French doors open all day.

Same predators here too. I've lost one cat, a goose and some ducks to coyotes but I suspect all were outside the chainlink fence when they were taken.

Could be, but fences don't stop coyotes. I saw a huge ridiculously healthy male specimen in my backyard in broad daylight and he didn't seem to much care that I saw him.
I keep weapons around, so I grabbed a buck knife and yelled while throwing it at him. Of course I missed and he left. I felt bad about my weak attempt to harm him,
but on the other hand he would not have felt bad about eating my cats.

Agreed on the fence, but I have both security cams and automatic security lights and have never seen them jump the fence although I've seen them about 20 yards from the house. During rutting season in the fall they make quite a racket and come close. When I hear them I'll toss a firecracker, sometimes shoot a pistol into the ground, and that's the last I see of them that night.

They're vermin, so don't feel bad about killing them. The problem is it's much more difficult to get rid of them. They're territorial and killing one just allows another to move in.

That would look doubly bad for those up for reelection. I'm certain measures will be taken. Again, banks want money, not houses. Since the economy is down, the value of those houses will go down too. Even further since they'll be sitting empty. Banks will push the government to grant the extensions with the proviso that all past-due payments must be caught up by a certain date.
