Default With DEMOCRATS in charge the price of gas gets large

    DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR COONMAN NORTHAM

Virginia DEMOCRATS agreed to a deal raising gas taxes in the state by a total of 10 cents over the next two years, a move party leadership said would give people "more time with their families."

With DEMOCRATS also expanding a regional gas tax, overall gas taxes will more than double in some areas of the state from 16 cents to 34 cents, according to NBC Washington.

DEMOCRAT lawmakers said the increases would help reduce traffic on busy roadways in the state.

"This is a historic agreement that will give Virginians more time with their families and less stuck in traffic," Virginia House of Delegates speaker Eileen Filler-Corn (D.) said.

The 10-cent increase was a compromise between the state House, which proposed a 12-cent increase, and the state Senate, which proposed an increase of 8 cents, according to WTOP.

Both chambers of the Virginia legislature have a DEMOCRAT majority.

That's not the price of gas going up where it would end up lining oil company's pockets. It's a separate tax to fund things for Virginia. There is a big difference.

You think that makes a difference in the price people pay at the pump?

And are you buying this bullshit?

Oh 8 or 10cents. The cars will never leave their garages. We are pushing for a larger tax in Michigan because our roads are a mess. The state has to pay for busted cars that are hitting the potholes and cracks. hard to believe but we have to pay taxes in America.

Is that so? So if you start taxing food, people will eat less because it costs so much, so you'll save wear and tear on sewage treatment plants. Is that the logic?

Why not tax new and used cars and trucks at 100%. That way the roads won't get much wear at all.

I think it’s fine. It’ll be to help the country, plus gas is already expensive in California so I’m used to it lol

Your state pays for damages to autos caused by potholes and cracks in the roadways? Hell, I'm moving to Michigan, I'll have a new car every 2 years!

Here in PA, a few years ago our Rep governor added a gas tax that increased yearly over (I believe) a 3 or 4 year period. It was for road repair and new construction. It cost him reelection. It is being utilized though, there are detours everywhere, it drives your GPS crazy!
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

The tax is to assist tax payers' needs.

In this case the compromise was between two DEMOCRAT tax hikes. DEMOCRATS in the Virginia House wanted 12 cents a gallon, DEMOCRATS in the Virginia Senate wanted 8 cents a gallon.

They "compromised" and added "only 10 cents per gallon, which means that gas taxes will more than double in some areas of the state from 16 cents to 34 cents, according to NBC Washington.

Their justification was that insanely high taxes on gas will keep poor and middle class people from driving their cars.

    Let that sink in.

Not according to the DEMOCRATS who passed it.

How will that "help the country"?

I'll understand if you can't explain, of course.

Except the people who benefit the most pay little to no taxes. Been listing to that BS for years.

Oh, it has sunk in. But, I was just sarcastically addressing the word "compromise" which is meant to sound so wonderful yet the taxpayers get FUCKED

Oh, there are exceptions, yes, and lifting the poor lifts the country, as it should.

Tax policy should always make sure the benefits go to citizens before the businesses.
