Swine flu killed between 0.01% and 0.08%. The recent Coronavirus is at least 2%, but might be higher. It is still in flux. So about 50 to 200 times worse.

Coronavirus is still evolving to be in humans, so could suddenly become far worse.

We do not know how contagious it is either. It keeps going out of control, which is a bad sign. If it kills 2% of the world's population, that is 140 million people.

We can always hope that this time it will not hit, but sooner or later we will have a major pandemic that will kill millions... Which is why we really need the CDC global pandemic team. A "wall" will not prevent that.

The 2% mortality rate is on the high end; likely, because it doesn’t take into account mild or asymptomatic infections and it’s not much of a super bug if it causes asymptomatic infections. Mild/asymptomatic cases belong in the total stats right along with the severe cases.

But here is John’s Hopkins keeping things in perspective without the OMG:

I'm not smart enough to answer but I saw Goldman came out with forecasts for the remainder of the year showing almost no economic growth. I wish I knew.

I suspect so many of the right-wingers suspect the Democrats of feeling that way...is because that is the way they would feel if the positions were reversed.

I would LOVE to see Trump gone...but there is no way I would want a world epidemic in hopes it would lead to that happening. I think most of us on this side of that issue feel that way.

But I have no trouble supposing the assholes of the right would easily hope for that if the positions were reversed.

So, yes, I agree, feeling that way would be VERY TWISTED.
