The PCR reaction uses so-called primers, short stretches of DNA, to find viral sequences. The CDC website posts the primers used in its test, and WHO publicly catalogs other primers and protocols, too. Well-equipped state or local labs can use these—or come up with their own—to produce what are known as a “laboratory-developed tests” for in-house use.
But at the moment, they’re not allowed to do that without FDA approval. When the United States declared the outbreak a public health emergency on 31 January, a bureaucratic process kicked in that requires FDA’s “emergency use approval” for any tests. “The declaration of a public health emergency did exactly what it shouldn’t have. It limited the diagnostic capacity of this country,” Mina says. “It’s insane.”

In short, the FDA is an unnecessary regulatory burden in this.
Looks like somebody needs to get a Plan together. What, it's been 2 months now? 'Sleep at the Wheel' is what it's called.

I know how badly you want to blame this on Trump, but what we're seeing seems to be more of a symptom of how our regulatory agencies often harm more than help.

The FDA is often an organization that limits American consumers' choices far more than the equivalents in a lot of the rest of the world. Plenty of Europeans have access to drugs or treatments that work quite well that still don't have FDA approval due to archaic regulations or just red tape.

If you really want to fix the problem, we need regulatory reform.

How long did China hide the severity of this virus? Care to answer that, Jack?
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

In a month or two, this will all fizzle out. Just like the flu, and everything else. Much ado about nothing.

There have been 40 cases total, all foreigners apart from 13 Thais who either contracted from Chinese tourists or people who went to China. There haven't been any new cases for 3 days, instead of being so negative, how about you welcome that? You probably exposed yourself to far more dangerous diseases in the knocking shops in Nawlins, amirite?

Man! (shaking head) I'm pretty sure these idiots don't have a Plan. I think we're all on are own on this one.

You are always on your own. What do you think they can do to protect you?

    You sound like a child

    PS

There is no crisis. Where do you see a crisis? You want one for political reasons. But there isn’t one. Thanks for making my prediction come true. You never disappoint. Do you get a flu shot every year?

All I was asking was about the cost factor. How many people in the US can't afford to go to a Hospital because of the cost.
My point, if someone has the coronavirus, they are NOT going to a Hospital, they are going to keep walking around and infecting other people.
Without some 'Free Clinic' where you can get tested at 'No Charge', no one is going to go to a Hospital.

Your thought process is completely fucked up. The symptoms are non specific and mild. Getting tested doesn’t make one less contagious. Even if they go to the hospital they are still risking infecting other people. You are trying to create panic

You want to reduce our 0% death rate to what? You want a negative death rate from COVID19 in the US?

me thinks you can’t wait for the first person to die in the US from COVID19. It will be like a mass shooting in an elementary school to you fucks

Here is something to think about. Most everyone who has died has been elderly, sick and had underlying comorbid conditions. For some they have have dies from COVID19 or they may have died with it. I know that is too much for you to process. You just want to blame Trump

Don’t worry there will be another manufactured crisis for you to wring your hands over after this passes

Would hardly be a first if they are lol?

It’s absolutely a problem. Just not one of the ‘omg, we’re all gonna die!’ variety. The hype has gotten ahead of the facts and THAT has had a lot to do with the stock market jitters. Though the market was due for a correction since it’s been going up steadily since Inauguration Day. The flu hype triggered something that was due to happen anyway.

    Indeed.

Some cheered the losses in the stock market.

    PoliTalker:

"Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better.

    We're going down.

    BZZZZZT! BZZZZZT! BZZZZZT!

    Dive! Dive! Dive!"

Cheering on a stock market drop than could harm millions of Americans, putting food on the table, trillions in market value.
