I basically agree although that is very different than most liberals who claim Republicans have moved far to the right saying people like Reagan or Bush would not fit into the party today. Both have become big government fiscally irresponsible parties. Even Trump's deregulation efforts which issued the fewest since 1975 still issued 72,000 pages of new regulations (it takes new regulations to undo old ones). Today I heard we repealed the rule regulating how many cherries must be contained in a cherry pie.
They don't mention gay marriage because the SC made the decision which cannot be changed by the president or Congress.
Republicans have not moved left on abortion and continue to make that a major issue although it was decided by the courts and cannot be changed by the legislative or executive, either.
I think those two issues did provide some of the motivation for appointing federal judges.

Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
pain in abortion.
Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.
