Ebola was and is a terrifying disease. Its lethality is far higher than COVID-19's. Therefore it is of less concern to epidemiologists because it tends to infect, sicken, and kill its victims before they can spread it to others. COVID-19, on the other hand, has a longer prodromal period. That's when you've contracted the illness but have not yet begun to show symptoms. You are infectious to others w/o knowing it.

COVID-19 is less infectious than smallpox, measles, chickenpox, polio... and roughly the same as Ebola.
