In my State, when voter ID laws were passed, the State identified over 100K that didn't have an ID meeting the requirements of the new law. They offered those folks a ride and FREE ID. 25 accepted. Rather than those opposing such laws chastising those that refused to get something they didn't have and made excuses they couldn't get, the opposition still claimed disenfranchisement.
BTW, those acceptable ID weren't drivers licenses but they served the same purpose.

It’s an issue of non-eligible voters, including illegals (non-citizens), voting.
