Government insurance is ‘destroying’ small hospitals.

A small hospital closed last week in WV for that very reason. Too much reimbursement from Medicare/Medicaid and state worker insurance. It just doesn’t pay as well as private insurances. My own hospital stopped offering pensions and basically froze our wages for the same reason. Larger hospitals are better able to manage because they generate enough cash flow to play shell games with their money. But that won’t keep forever.

It’s to the point where I dissuade people from getting into it. We’ll probably end up with ‘free healthcare’ at some point and it will only get worse.

That's probably because those medicare recipients cannot afford to buy it up with the supplement. WV miners were really screwed by the mine owners, not paid enough, tossed out like yesterday's fish. All that yaay capitalism, pro Republican 'job creation' stuff didn't work out very well for them. It's amazing that with so much energy industry in WV and Louisiana, with all that very lucrative energy industry, (basically just dig up or pump up the product and then sell it for easy money,) and so much 'job creation,' that those regions are among the poorest in the nation when it comes down to looking at everyone but the super-rich. Where is the middle class who can even afford the Medicare supplemental in those regions? Crickets. Those regions are almost nothing but the super-rich and lots of very poor.

I've been to China, but I've never commended their dictators.
