It is only "crossing the Rubicon" to those with a 20th Century Cold War understanding of socialism, as Bernie continues more people were realize he is not talking gulags, nationalizing industries, or taking over the factors of production, rather making Gov't work for people and not special interests

They definitely aren't the party of Clinton. Hell, they aren't even the party of Obama today. But both parties have changed over time. Republicans are no longer the party of Reagan and are not the party of Bush either. Who knows what will become of the party post Trump.

    Everything is in flux.

Bernie is trying to fundamentally alter the American economy. It's not some benign "working for the people not special interest" soundbite.

He will cause a financial meltdown without a shadow of a doubt. These lunatics ought to look overseas and stop being so fucking parochial. Look at the mess Hollande caused in France and he wasn't anywhere near as left wing as Colonel Sanders. He had to do a swift about turn but the damage was already done. I predict that it wouldn't even take a year in Sander's case.

because our Congress is no longer a 'serious' institution -it's just a bunch of "parochial" partisans
    who only care about politics.
they are reactionaries. they don't even entertain debate anymore -just speechifying

I can't overstate this enough. Congress is full of silly people. they are swamp critters -nothing more

But Trump is no fundamental transformer lol.

His policies are pretty run of the mill conservative: strong military, tax cuts, secure border, emphasis on strong economy etc. Those are things republicans have been trying to get done since Reagan. The only thing ‘radical’ is Trump, himself. He’s a unique politician. Hopefully, when he’s gone republicans will have learned how to fight from him.

If Bernie becomes the leader of the Democrat Party [not a given btw] they will have transformed into a radical party that wants to radically change our economy.
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017

    https://www.voanews.com/europe/new-r...ure-corruption
Among Putin measures lauded by outside experts are e-governance efforts and a public blacklist of government officials fired over a “loss of confidence.”

State media portray Putin as something of an anti-corruption folk hero, seemingly alone trying to rein in Russia’s vast network of amoral civil servants.

A popular improv sketch show famously runs skits showing Putin lambasting terrified corrupt officials with a sudden appearance and kick in the pants, and the All Russia People'sFront, a Putin-linked political coalition, published a series of animated videos showing Putin catching and graphically executing corrupt regional politicians.
Meanwhile it’s not uncommon to see salacious state media TV reports detailing sting operations against governors, policemen and bureaucrats, often caught holding bags of cash.

    ~~

the sanctions ( denying the oligarchs access to western banks) and preventing Ukraine from joining Russia's Eurasian Economic Union ( what the Euromaidan was all about) have driven Russia not to use dollars for exchange.
That of course makes trade with the west almost impossible, and is why China and Russia have their own
trade not done in western currencies

Without banking or trade, Russia is reduced to a "glorified gas station" as McCain put it
    From your own link:

Russia "scored 137th out of 180 countries in the Transparency International corruption index published last week."

If Putin is 'fighting corruption' he is not doing a very good job. I would guess it is largely a faux corruption fight because Putin is as corrupt as they come. So he has somebody who he doesn't like, somebody has gotten too powerful, so he takes them out on corruption charges. Very publicly, so he can turn it into propaganda claiming he is the fighter of corruption. Easy to do since most of Russia, including Putin, is highly corrupt. This is how Putin cements his power, by preventing anyone from challenging him.

Look at DT. He is an extremely corrupt president and he has the nerve to claim he is fighting corruption by using bribery to try to force Ukraine into investigating Biden. More of the same Putin-style BS. Believable enough for the gullible to swallow. It just doesn't pass the smell test.

DT took a page right out of Putin's book.

The last thing we need is for our 'dear leader' to be emulating the strongman leader of one of the most corrupt nations on Earth.

DT needs to be removed from office and convicted on fraud and tax evasion charges, then locked up with no cell phone.

The Republican party survives thanks to gerrymandering and voter suppression efforts.

An a big helping of pure propaganda, truth denial.

But hey. Congrats are in order for the most astonishingly brazen propaganda out there.

    Republican propaganda:

'The media is the enemy of the people.

'There are actual facts and 'alternative facts.' We are free to choose which to believe. Reality is what you believe, not what actually exists.'

'No amount of lying is a bad thing because the other side has been caught in a few lies.'

If Democrats do something bad, it is a very bad thing for America. But the good part is that makes it OK for Republicans to do the very same thing, and now it's perfectly OK. What could possibly be better for Republicans? A Democrat does something, say Senator Al Franken gets caught in a photo of him goofing around and pretending to fondle a sleeping reporter (but not actually touching her,) and he is forced to resign. No charges even filed. A Republican presidential candidate is shown in a Hollywood Access video boasting about how he can have his groping way with women, including have intercourse, because: "When you're a big star they let you," and Republicans proceed to elect him. Total double standard on morality.

Propaganda, gerrymandering, voter suppression are the only things keeping the Republican party from being overwhelmed by demographic numbers. That's a fact. And the joke is on the American people.

The fake news media, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and others are enemies of the people.

They disseminate false information about President Trump and suppress his favorable news.
