More "IFs", "just wells" and so forth? Funny how those who profess to having Objectivity and Applied Science on their side of an argument.....always present subjective ad hominem bullshit as some kind of valid retort or refutation against valid prima facie evidences....is it not?
Christianity and its true doctrine does not advocate nor endorse any type of UNJUST punishment for anyone.....religious or secular.
In fact the scriptures tell us to respect the government under which we reside.
The scriptures make it clear that governments exist because God allows them to exist. They exist solely by the authority of God. "For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinances (laws) of God, and those who resist will bring judgment upon themselves (God leaves it up to the government to punish those who commit crimes against humanity)." -- Romans 13:1-2
I always laugh my proverbial kister off when someone says, "CHRISTIANS can't work for the government and still be a Christian". Again, its a funny thing its these same people that don't know JACK about the actual content of the Holy Scriptures that want and demand to judge others according to their personal ad hominem subjective opinions.
There are many examples of Christians serving in government in different roles. Matthew was a tax collector......and Zacchaeus was a "chief" tax collector (Luke 19:2). Then we have the example of the
eunuch from Ethiopia who was under the authority of the queen of Ethiopia...who had charge of her entire treasury (Acts 8:27)
Then of course you find the very first Christian conversion of a Gentile.....10 years after the death of Christ, he was a Centurion in the Roman Empire, Cornelius. (Acts 10:1-48)
What do the scriptures say about the Christian and Government? The government is God's minister for the Christian in righting any wrongs against them....just as with any other citizen. "For he is God's minister to you FOR GOOD. But if you do evil be afraid; FOR HE (the government) DOES NOT BEAR THE SWORD IN VAIN (meaning.....the government is authorized to use capital punishment for certain crimes against humanity)…….an avenger on those who do evil an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil." -- Romans 13:4
So...…..Christianity does not endorse vigilante justice of any type, any one that does is practicing false doctrine.
Indeed God endorses capital punishment.....even under the New Testament of Grace as indicated. What are these things that God finds worthy of Capital punishment....things that God hates?
"...…..from the hand of every man's brother I will require the life of a man. Whoever sheds man's blood (the innocent), by man (the government) his blood will be shed. For in the image of God He made man." -- Genesis 9:5-6
The things God hates? These 6 things the Lord hates. "....yes, seven are an abomination; a proud look; a lying tongue; hands that shed innocent blood (calls for capital punishment....what's more innocent than a child resting in a womb?); a heart that devises wicked plans; feet that are swift in running toward evil; a false witness (bearing false testimony under oath); anyone that sow discord among the brethren." -- Prov. 6:19-19
