Do you mean Socialism or Social Democracy, they are not the same thing?

The difference between the two is that social democrats support practical reforms to capitalism whereas democratic socialists ultimately want to go beyond mere social democratic reforms and advocate systematic transformation of the economy from capitalism to socialism.

People also pay for food stamps, Medicaid, welfare, housing, etc. with their tax money. It just isn't taken out as a separate category. And most recipients get more Social Security and Medicare benefits than they paid in.

The schools in MY district/county, we'll just say any given yearare in the top 5, among 67 counties--we'll leave it at that to keep a modicum of privacy. Perhaps you need to move to a BETTER neighborhood.

As for yours and everyone's SOCIAL SECURITY and MEDICARE, that is shared, us and our employer. You won't come CLOSE to paying for your medical care as a senior, even after you get your Medicare premium deducted from your SS check--unless you drop dead shortly after going on Medicare. Even if you made $100k every year (and I'm sure YOU do, right) for your 45 working years, one appendectomy would eat up every cent YOU paid your entire working life--imagine what a chronic medical condition or heart attack will cost.

This rugged individualism, I'm not a socialist, I'm the master of my destiny is BULLSHIT! I figured out the math on all this by the age 40.
