When it comes to social welfare programs, all of that redistributed money is being paid by those not receiving those benefits and being given to those that didn't pay the taxes that fund them.

The difference between the two is that social democrats support practical reforms to capitalism whereas democratic socialists ultimately want to go beyond mere social democratic reforms and advocate systematic transformation of the economy from capitalism to socialism.
    Democratic Socialism!

As for yours and everyone's SOCIAL SECURITY and MEDICARE, that is shared, us and our employer. You won't come CLOSE to paying for your medical care as a senior, even after you get your Medicare premium deducted from your SS check--unless you drop dead shortly after going on Medicare. Even if you made $100k every year (and I'm sure YOU do, right) for your 45 working years, one appendectomy would eat up every cent YOU paid your entire working life--imagine what a chronic medical condition or heart attack will cost.

This rugged individualism, I'm not a socialist, I'm the master of my destiny is BULLSHIT! I figured out the math on all this by the age 40.

I live in a wonderful Neighborhood and city except for the Liberal, ass, Mayor! It is a fantastic School system I went through it as did my children. we already have a levy in place qand now they are asking for more on another levy. I pay city, state, and federal taxes for that B.S. Plus a certain percentage of Lottery winnings were supposed to go toward school funding. I want an audit to see exactly where the money is going as they just put in new field turf for football, and said it was funded by donations! I don't buy it! The Government sucks at running things like education! As for Social security and medicare being taken out of my check., they are paying no money on what was supposed to be a savings fund for retirement so screw you!

Two thoughts there "gated," first, people did pay in, but if you collect for a number of years you have easily passed what you contributed, and if you are on Medicare and you ever have a real medical emergency the totals will easily supersede what you paid, few could afford the costs

Secondly, and more to the point, both are based upon socialist principles, Gov't runned programs to assist others, and if you think socialism is evil then you better be willing to scrap both programs immediately

You assume they paid in. Lifelong freeloaders have not. Since budgets are year to year, what may have been paid in one year has nothing to do with subsequent years.

That you believe social welfare handouts are assisting anyone with anything other than enabling them to be freeloaders, your answer to my question is clear. You don't understand.

I have no problem with scraping the food stamp program and any other program of the like. I've advocated for years people having the ability to opt out of SS and Medicare only to be met with socialists like you claiming they were there to look out for those that would opt out but not invest/save/plan privately.

Voluntarily giving and being taxed aren't the same thing.

There are ways to deal with freeloaders that would try to rob you because they don't get handed what they want. I can think of 40 ways. Or is it 9, or 357, or 44, or 45. I guess it depends on which day they decide to be stupid enough to try and rob.

The blue state people always complain they have to subsidize the red states because they pay less in federal taxes than they get back in benefits.

The handouts, what you call benefits, aren't given to States. They're given to individuals.

I call them handouts because a benefit involves getting a return for a contribution.

When the SALT deduction was limited to $10,000 for the 2018 tax year, did you notice how all the blue state folks complained? They want more money going to the federal government yet complained when they had to pay more. Sounds more like to me they wanted someone else's money to go to the federal government.
