My favorite is drag racing. Been going to local track since I got my driver's license, been going (every weekend but one) to see the Top Fuel cars each year since the early 90's. Even they have changed, the Pro Stock class has become a joke. The cost of auto racing in general has become enormous. If you don't have a sponsor with big bucks, you'll never be competitive on the national level.

I like the factory stock class with the new Drag Pack Challengers, Mustang Cobras and COPO Camaros. it's kinda like it was back in the old Pro Stock days. A used one will set you back $75,000+, then there's the maintenance, travel and living expenses. Hell, what was once having a 12 second street car (that needed modified to run that fast) and was the town's fastest car, can now be seen at most reputable car dealership showrooms. 700 HP right off the showroom floor is insane! Technology has come a long way.
