“AUSTIN, Texas — Bernie Sanders’ staying power atop the 2020 field has Democratic insiders in Texas on edge: They’re worried nominating the Vermont senator would kneecap their hard-fought campaign to flip the Texas state house.

Putting a self-proclaimed democratic socialist at the top of the ticket would squander a prime opportunity to seize statehouse seats — and congressional districts — that have long been out of reach, robbing the party of a hand in next year’s crucial redistricting process, more than a half-dozen Democratic candidates, activists and political consultants said in interviews.

"There is overall uncertainty which is growing. The real fear for Texas D’s remains Sanders," Bill Miller, a longtime Austin lobbyist who has worked with both Democrats and Republicans, said of a Sanders ticket. “'We’d be fucked' — that’s what they’re saying. The drain at the top goes down to the bottom.”

Texas may not be a presidential battleground, but a wave of GOP retirements in Congress, shifting demographics and Donald Trump’s lightning-rod presidency offer Democrats a shot at real power after two decades of Republican dominance. And to insiders like Miller, plans to nationalize the health care and electricity sectors will spook voters and weigh down local Democrats who are trying to thread a needle in this still deeply conservative state.”

“The R’s are on their knees praying every day for Bernie,” Miller said.

    Go, Bernie.

You won’t get the nomination but you will probably get a new lakefront home.

Some see a brokered Convention with Bloomberg coming out on top. Wouldn't that be funny.

What is funny about the Bloomberg candidacy is that he, a billionaire, claims to care about the less fortunate yet he's still a billionaire and those for which he makes the claim are still less fortunate.

They don't want Bernie, they want Bernie supporters to vote for the candidate the DNC decides is their person.

How would that be any different for a moderate Republican running in California or the NorthEast with Trump on the top of the ticket?

Who is to say Bernie won't sell himself to those voters those candidates are nervous about, he is a good communicator, and all the socialist crap only plays in the FOX bubble, the rest of America have a 21st Century understanding of the term

But don't get yourself in a giddy "earl," long way to go, and Bernie has only won in those States where he would be expected to preform well, Super Tuesday will be more of an indication

One, Sanders will not be the candidate, Earl, so unwad your undies.

Two, Texas is looking good this time around for Trump regardless of the Dem candidate.

Bernie will win it. That is because the people are still seeking the change that was promised from Obama forward. Obama ran on change but spent a long time fixing the Bush/Repub crash. He got the ACA in. But he did not get more done because McConnell proudly announced he was blocking everything he wanted.
Then Daffy came along promising huge change. But he just took us back to Repub policies of making the rich richer and making the world safer for billionaires.
The people sense disaster. They know all this profit Trump talks about is not making then safer and more secure. They are in as perilous a position as ever. They are one layoff, one injury, one illness from a disaster. They know it does not have to be this way.
Bernie promises to help the people. It can be done. The people know it can be done. the wealthiest nation in the world can help its citizens. Trump proved he is not interested in that.
