Default ‘Rage Against the Machine’ Smashes Capitalism with $300 Concert Tickets

With ticket prices starting at $190 for nosebleed seats and soaring upwards from there, legendary leftist rap metal band Rage Against the Machine has successfully reached its target audience: the bourgeoisie.

“We’ve always felt our audiences back in the 90s were a bit too prol,” said singer Zack de la Rocha. “I think we’ve finally found our niche: one percenters.”

The band has stated that the best way to fight against social and economic injustice is to price poor people completely out of the market.

“It’s just one way of giving back to the community,” said guitarist Tom Morello. “Oh, and by the way, there’s a strict black tie dress code at all our upcoming shows.”

The floor seats at their Winnipeg show will be reserved for members of the bourgeoisie only, while seats in the bleachers will be available to the petit bourgeoisie and kulaks.

“The best thing about our ticket prices is that I guarantee there won’t be a single Mennonite in the audience….They can afford it, they’re just too cheap.”

In response to the outrageous ticket prices a new activist group has emerged called Rage Against Rage Against the Machine.

Do you honestly think the bands have anything to do with ticket prices? They are show ponies of the music industry and make big money for performence venues.

The actual bands themselves? No, not very often. Their promoters/agents predominantly set the ticket prices when they require a specified amount to show up. Add the pathetic taxes and fees, concert tickets have become abnormally expensive. Back in the 80's when I was a roadie with a local R&R band, they wouldn't show up for less than $1000. That amount drastically increased once they retained an agent/promoter, signed with Atlantic and put a few of their songs on MTV (Atlantic took a healthy cut of record sales). Of course, that was 30 years ago.

Yes, for one summer while I was laid off. It was a blast, but lots of traveling, hard work and difficult to get much sleep, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I was also a sound man and pyrotechnic for a band (all HS friends) who played local bars and parties (no pyrotechnics in bars!!) in the early 80's, but they only played weekends and never ventured out of the area. We did put on a few good shows at outdoor parties, especially when we could use the flashpots. The lead guitarist was killed in an auto accident, that ended that.

They were touring with a band called KIX that summer, early in their begining back in PA.

Some bands will adopt a moral stance. Those that don't run the risk of drowning in hypocrisy- as the OP suggests.

Sorry to hear that. I saw a roadie lift a Hammond organ on his own once. I hope that wasn't you.

Rage Against the Machine has successfully reached its target audience: the bourgeoisie.
