We know why uneducated working class people vote Republican in direct opposition to their own economic best interests.
Knowing that they need votes from these ignorant lowlifes, the Republicans pander to their racism, their xenophobia, their religious bigotry, their misogyny, and their anti-intellectualism.

There isn't a single right wing nutjob on this forum who could manage a decent SAT score if his/her life depended on it. Just read their posts. It's almost impossible to find a single grammatically correct simple declarative sentence from any one of them. They're functionally illiterate. What else could they be? What person with any intellect at all would sodomize him/herself in the polling booth the way these pathetic morons do every election cycle?

The sobering part is that there are so many of them. How does one nation get burdened with so many vile, despicable troglodytes willing to screw themselves economically in order to get a pat on the head for their racism and other depraved qualities?

The kind thing would be to feel sorry for them, but they've caused so much damage to our republic that my instinct is to loathe them instead...and loathe them I do.

So let's not wallow in any more bullshit about bringing people together. We will never be together. Their very existence makes us sick.
We need not try to change minds where no minds exist but rather to beat them. Get to the polls and beat them down. And then we must keep them down so that they never rise again.

I'm not opposed to a Stalinesque purge although it would have to be far bigger than anything Stalin ever did. Just the same, I'm open to any other idea they will get these despicable monsters out of polite society once and for all. Maybe we can simply sterilize them so that they won't procreate more monsters. Maybe we can relocate them to Antarctica. The only thing I know for sure is that we have to do something...and do it now.
No wonder Democrats lost the working class vote. Loathing people and calling for purges should attract a lot of intelligent voters.

The people are not losing ground--they are also gaining.

Workers at the lower end of the pay scale finally are getting the most benefit from rising wages

The working-class vote has always been pretty split, though does lean Democrat.

Yes, I it depends on how we define working class. 69% of Trump voters did not have college degrees and many translate that to working class. However, of that group "nearly 60 percent were in the top half of the income distribution. In fact, one in five white Trump voters without a college degree had a household income over $100,000."

I should have said the Democrats have lost the white working class vote which used to be an important part of their coalition (especially the South).

But didn't Obama win a large portion of the white working-class vote? I think it's kind of early to say the Democrats have lost this block.

He did, but it has been declining for several years. About 7-8 million Obama voters in 2012 voted for Trump in 2016. This trend continued in 2018.
