It was extremely foggy ( the real reason for the crash) and the video isn't foggy. This is going to be human error in foggy environment. I think they simply flew into the mountain side due to low viability caused by unusually dense fog.

Pilot chose to fly VFR instead of IFR

I am sure Kobe was in a hurry and didn’t want to wait for IFR clearance.

If they flew IFR they would be alive

I doubt that long. Such accidents are quick. In this case maybe 5 seconds.

This video is an excellent simulation but it includes some speculation. I prefer Occam's Razor.
