My theory on why Biden has any support at all

Look, the guy is 80 years old. And like most of that age, he has bouts with reality. You can argue what percentage that he is lucid, but there's no arguing the fact that the man is losing his facilities and would be mentally unfit to be POTUS for the next four years.

So why is he running and enjoying so much support?

Because the Democrats realize that Trump will win in 2020, and by a large margin. If they run Crazy Bernie or Pocahontas, the margin will be huge. Joe is there only hope to avoid a landslide.

The second reason is that Biden as a candidate gives the Democrats the excuse they need for impeachment.

Biden is 77. trump is 73. There is a less than four year age difference. Biden is in much better health than trump, and four years is not that much.

That is not really possible. trump would have to pull off an amazing turn around to not just win, but also to win by a large margin. There really are very few undecided, so he would have to take a huge number of people who hate him, and convince them to vote for him. That is not going to happen.

He may eke out another win, but it really is not possible for him to win by a large margin. If we see him winning by a large margin, we will all know he cheated.

Joe is there only hope to avoid a landslide.

The majority of Americans not only will never vote for trump, but think he should be impeached and convicted. With our system, it is still conceivable that trump could win, but there is no chance of a landslide for trump.

I wish it did work by the Constitution, but both parties have ignored that document for far too long. It's all about popularity, and who holds the majority. And you can always count on the Democrats to vote lock-step, just like you can count on the Republicans to fracture.

The House is majority Democrat so they impeached using manufactured evidence and still, cited no actual crimes. The Senate is majority Republican, and conviction requires 2/3 majority vote, so here will never be a conviction. Nevertheless, every Democrat in the Senate will vote for it, and we can expect a handful of NeverTrumpers to vote with them: Romney, Collins, etc.

And don't count on Roberts to cite the Constitution and save the day. Don't call it ObamaCare any more- more accurate to call it RobertsCare.
