    "Rapid redistribution of income" doesn't go well for anyone, really. The French Revolution is as good an example as any. Right after the revolution, you had leftist extremists that killed anyone they deemed a threat (the Reign of Terror). It's not surprising that this revolution was somewhat an inspiration for the Bolshevik Revolution -- which was even bloodier.

    If we got rid of the current welfare state and replaced it with a UBI, that would probably be an improvement, although it would require a low stipend to be functional.

    I made no such claim about the same for everyone. Like Helmsley said "We don't pay taxes. Only little people pay taxes". I would eliminate loopholes and hiding money offshore. Our biggest corporations pay no taxes. I would deal with that.
