This is crazy. America is losing life expectancy because of obesity, and other poor decisions, and trump is trying to force more poor decisions on people. The NRA is actually trying to get gag laws passed banning doctors from helping patients. I could go on and on, but it sounds like drug addicts trying to continue using drugs.
Why did trump need to announce more subsidies to fatty foods on Michelle Obama's birthday? It seems petty to sacrifice children's health just to attack the wife of a man who is not even in politics anymore.
When I was a kid, maybe one child out of ten or twenty was overweight. These days it is almost half of them. This is a huge problem. The government should not be paying to make it worse.

School breakfast and lunch programs need reformed...flexibility is key...
If students are just throwing away what is offered to them, change needs to happen..
Let's say that the kids are not drinking all the water being offered them, does that mean we should switch over to cola in the water fountains?
Subsidizing high starch/high sugar foods because the kids will eat all of it is crazy. If the kids do not eat all their vegetables, at least we know they were offered enough vegetables and even more than enough. Whereas if we switch to offering no vegetables...

What if they're just tossing the lunches served now for the most part? When was the last time you were in a school? Hungry kids don't do well you know....sometimes school breakfast/lunches are the best meal they're being offered....the breakfasts are worse (if possible) than the lunches btw...go visit you're local public schools and get back to me...

I will be dropping my kids off at school in an hour and a half.
Kids are not going hungry in school. The problem here is obesity. Sugary/starchy foods cause blood sugar to ramp up and then crash. When it crashes they lose energy, and do badly in school. trump's diet is not good for students.
If kids are eating everything offered to them, either we are not offering them enough, or they are eating too much. If they are eating 75% of the food offered them, that means things are working well.
