Realistically, yes. If you look at our foreign policy or really that of any major world power, weaker powers are more often the targets.

Iran isn't a major world power. Russia is. The Cold War was all about major powers undermining each other through proxies. Even after the Cold War, the strategy is largely the same.

Iran is weak enough that we could defeat them without catastrophic loss. Going to war with Russia would be "world altering" so to speak. It would likely go nuclear, and civilization would somewhat "restart."
