Again, it is anything but a blunder by Pelosi, she has cemented the image of the Senate proceedings as anything but a trial, and Mitch will largely confirm that image. She knew Trump would never allow it to be an actual trial in the Senate, that consequently, that the real trial is in the public view
And Trump is America's third impeached President, regardless of what Rudi is pushing now, no matter want occurs, Trump is the third impeached President and will go down in history as such
But it’s impeachment on the cheap lol.
It’s the Kroger Cost-Cutter brand of impeachment: it may be cheaper than the name brand but it’s cheaper for a reason.
IOW, Trump wasn’t fairly impeached as compared to Nixon or Clinton. Both House’s in those instances sent well-developed evidence to the Senate; both Nixon and Clinton had prosecutors contributing to the evidence; the guilt of Nixon or Clinton wasn’t in dispute and etc.
And since Pelosi is offering up the cheapest and most partisan impeachment in history—it warrants being treated as such, by the Senate. In fact, the Senate has the responsibility to do just that. A clear message needs to sent to future Houses: don’t send half-baked articles to the Senate or they will be dismissed. Don’t impeach a president just because you can whip the majority of your caucus in line. Like Pelosi said herself: Impeachment needs to have bipartisan support and the evidence needs to be overwhelming.
Basically, all there is to it. If things go well, it should be over quickly.
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017
