Default "John Bolton willing to testify in Trump's impeachment trial"

"Former national security adviser John Bolton said Monday that he would testify if he is subpoenaed as part of the Senate’s impeachment trial of President Donald Trump."

"In a statement posted online, Bolton, who was asked to testify as part of the House's impeachment inquiry but refused to appear for a deposition, said he wants to meet his “obligations” both as a citizen and as a former top presidential adviser."

“Since my testimony is once again at issue, I have had to resolve the serious competing issues as best I could, based on careful consideration and study,” Bolton wrote. “I have concluded that, if the Senate issues a subpoena for my testimony, I am prepared to testify.”

Can't be making Mitch too happy, going to make it all the more difficult for him to deny witnesses, Mitch kisses Trump's ass, but keeping the control of the Senate next November is Mitch's number one priority, only thing that makes him relevant, and the last thing he wants is putting his moderate members in precarious situations

Pelosi may have been dealt another trump card with this move

Which Republican Senators would vote to hear from witnesses?

"GOP Sen. John Cornyn of Texas did not rule out voting to subpoena Bolton, but said the question of witnesses should be left for later in the trial, echoing McConnell’s position. "

They only need four votes, although as much as the GOP Senators talk one game, they seldom show the courage in the end, either way, the Democrats will make it, witnesses appear, or the vote not to let witnesses will give the Democrats a campaign issue in their elections

Hardly, Pelosi can hold the articles over Trump's head denying him the desperate "vindication" he wants dearly and provide a campaign issue for McConnell's moderate Senators up for reelection.

Lindsey may want to kiss Trump's ass with a rule change but that is never going to resolve the issues I just stated, in fact, it would exaggerate them

That would make all kinds of sense but it has one problem. It assumes voters know how our government works.

    Big problem.

Perhaps, no one knows, Bolton is conservative, but he also appears bitter at Trump, and the one question sure to come up is why he said he wanted nothing to do with the drug deal, drug deal referring to the shenanigans surrounding Trump holding up aid

Bigger concern though is if Bolton testifies the Democrats can then make a case for the other three to testify, putting Mitch in a difficult position

As I said, it won't be good for this administration. He can tell us the whole truth.
