In every society that attempts multiracialism, the same results happen. Now your theory is that it's just the media creating this divisiveness. But what's more likely? That multiracialism doesn't work? Or that every single society has a media that exploits racial differences the moment a society becomes multiracial? I must say, if it's the latter, that's a pretty huge coincidence. And even if that is the case, that would still be an argument against letting in so many racial minorities.

It’s no coincidence that our politics and our mental health have declined so rapidly, at the same time.

Everyone has his or her own definition of a political crisis. Mine is when our collective mental health starts having a profound effect on our politics — and vice versa.

It cannot be a simple coincidence that the two have declined in tandem. The American Psychiatric Association reported that from 2016 to 2017, the proportion of adults who described themselves as more anxious than the previous year was 36 percent. In 2017, more than 17 million American adults had at least one major depressive episode, as did three million adolescents ages 12 to 17. Forty million adults now suffer from an anxiety disorder — nearly 20 percent of the adult population. (These are the known cases of depression and anxiety. The actual numbers must be dumbfounding.)

The really sorrowful reports concern suicide. Among all Americans, the suicide rate increased by 33 percent between 1999 and 2017.

All of this mental carnage is occurring at a time when decades of social and political division have set against each other black and white, men and women, old and young. Beyond bitter social antagonisms, the country is racked by mass shootings, the mind-bending perils of the internet, revelations of widespread sexual predation, the worsening effects of climate change, virulent competition, the specter of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, grinding student debt and crises in housing, health care and higher education. The frightening environment helps cause depression, depression causes catastrophic thinking, and catastrophic thinking makes the environment seem even more terrifying than it is.

You seem to have lost your admiration for Mr. Rogers and his philosophy of love and the self-worth of all.

To each his own as to what makes a person decide if they are happy or not but I have a difficult time understanding how the President or abortion rights determines happiness for someone. From strictly a political perspective I live in SF, CA. I disagree with a lot of the politics locally and in my state. But at the end of the day happiness to me is determined by family, friends, relationships and economic well being. (again, not everyone has to value that) It's like the lady who said her Christmas was ruined because she didn't like Trump. Politics are important of course but there is more to life than just politics and politicians. Maybe that's our problem. Focusing so much of our own happiness on the actions of these very flawed human beings.

I feel like there's so little that unites us as Americans anymore. Sports used to one of things but its far more political now (there's always been a certain element of politics in sports but not nearly to the extent of today). Are there any TV shows that we all like? Maybe I'm wrong on this but I feel like we've lost something here.

Because the races aren't equal, some races will always do better than others at any given thing. The races doing worse can either accept that they're not as good at thing X, or they can blame racism. Thanks to human nature, they'll almost always blame racism.

But it's more than just that. When you have multiracialism, different issues become racialized. Immigration becomes a brown issue, reparations become a black issue, policy brutality becomes a black issue, and so on. This is just a result of evolution and self-segregation. Yes, it's also opportunist politicians taking advantage and exploiting racial tension, but the tension comes first, and there will always be opportunists to make things worse.

I do find it interesting that you hold this view on races while simultaneously condemning what you consider to be fascism by the right. The alt right actually agrees with you on race.

Yes, we've been disheartened as TRE45ON has done what one inept corrupt clown can do to destroy environmental protections, women's reproductive freedom, international relations, small farming ops, the Constitution, and the dignity of our nation.
