Iran is 4 times the area that Iraq is and it is very mountainous. Yeah, they would survive like every other country we attacked. Did Korea survive? How about Viet Nam. The most likely scenario is about 20 years of death and destruction and a few trillion dollars ending in a no-decision.

I guess we define survival differently. I'm referring to whether the current regime of Iran would survive. Yes, most of the population would survive.

What makes no sense whatsoever is this assumption that Putin would want us to attack Iran.

When it comes to war, both parties are right-wing.

America is. We still have a John Wayne idea of glorious wars. War is hell but we send others to fight them. We do not learn .
Yet we lose them to countries with no air force, no navy and no weaponry that matches ours. The lesson is people fight like hell to protect their homeland. And when you fight on their turf, they have an advantage.
We also do not fight here. If we had to rebuild our infrastructure after them, we might think differently. If we buried 100K of our native sons, would we stop warring?

1) the media doesn't exactly help things. From Vietnam onwards, they've been very negative in most coverage. If the same coverage had been done during WW2, we would've called a truce with the Japanese and Nazis.

I haven't seen much glorification of any war more recent than WW2. Most media concerning war after that, at most, glorifies the sacrifices of our soldiers. They don't typically paint a glorified picture of the war itself.

As far as guilt goes, I don't feel any guilt for that stuff. I didn't make those calls, and I didn't have a choice in the funding of said calls.
