dec 14 2019 Former Vice President Joe Biden committed Saturday to ending the use of standardized testing in public schools if he’s elected president in 2020.

Biden made the commitment after a questioner at MSNBC’s Public Education Forum 2020 said standardized testing is “rooted in a history of racism and eugenics” and urged him to oppose their use in public schools.

“Teaching has changed drastically over the last 10 to 20 years. Instead of being allowed to use their expertise to develop engaging curricula that’s culturally responsive, teachers are often forced to use a scripted curriculum that rushes children through without giving them enough time to really understand the material,” the questioner said.

She added: “Given that standardized testing is rooted in a history of racism and eugenics, if you are elected president, will you commit to ending the use of standardizing testing in public schools?”

“Yes,” Biden answered. “As one of my friends and black pastors I’ve spent a lot of time with, Rev. Herring, would say: You’re preaching to the choir, kid. OK?”

If you ask me we need MORE standardized testing. In fact i think a kid should not be allowed to graduate from HS unless he passes the GED. That would mean maybe 90% of blacks would flunk out and that's tough. As it is schools are told they have to let blacks graduate even though most can't even read.

Chance??? Social promotion is a reality. Non-whites all get the benefit of affirmative action grading. That's why i say HS should insist students pass the GED to graduate. Of course we will then have to monitor the GED to make sure AA scoring is not used there, but that should be easy. Making sure teachers do not use AA grading is tough since when blacks flunk out, the fake news press cries racism.

Here's the much more NUANCED statements associated with Biden's take on STANDARDIZED testing. The black folks, women too, fail to mention that standardized testing also had a 'cultural' bias towards them. BUT since little white boys and girls have been competing for 3 full decades in BETTER schools together, that bias is GONE and that's why GIRLS are whipping boys asses academically!

As to the substance of the question Biden was asked, I’ll be the first to admit that standardized testing has long been problematic in America. This used to be particularly true of the older versions of IQ tests that were administered as well as some of the early editions of the SATs. They would ask questions such as “Cup and ____.” The “correct” answer was “saucer.” But many people, particularly those from lower income families, hadn’t used saucers under tea or coffee cups for generations. This had the effect of lowering the scores of children from less wealthy families. (And yes… that produced a predominantly negative effect on African-American students.)

I keep reiterating. Even a BROKEN clock is right twice a day. You are NEVER right. How is that possible?

Now for the rest of us--the semi reasonable and semi-logical. There were some words on standardized tests, that to ME, WOULD BE OBSCURE for most people. One that stands out is 'hue'. BLACK KIDS overwhelmingly missed this word in standardized testing. Remember, every question on a test can be 'tested' now. That's how they test the test.

Having a mother who decorated 'a lot' and then being in the graphics biz LATER in life, I could see how kids in junior or senior high school wouldn't even hear this one. I mean how many kids in 'bad neighborhoods' help mom pick out PAINT for the walls?

Just one simple 3 letter EXAMPLE.

PS How many of the kids described above can afford SAT prep courses?
