Default It's official: The dossier was malarkey

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/o...r-was-malarkey

The new report from Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz is an absolutely damning indictment of the Steele dossier.

The dossier, compiled by the former British spy Christopher Steele during the 2016 campaign, was a collection of damaging and unfounded rumors about candidate Donald Trump. It was paid for by the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign and overseen by the opposition research firm Fusion GPS. It was never verified, and some of it was laughably far-fetched from the very beginning.

Still, the dossier's tales were taken seriously by officials in the highest ranks of the FBI — then-director James Comey and top deputy Andrew McCabe. In January 2017, Comey briefed President-elect Trump on the dossier's most sensational allegations. The briefing provided a hook for some news organizations to tell the public of the dossier's existence, and then, days later, publish the entire document.

The reporting did terrible damage to a new president as he took office. And now, the Horowitz report definitively shows that it was all garbage.

How many of you JPP Libs supported that obvious piece of garbage. The FBI knew it was garbage but they used it to get a FISA warrant so they could listen in phone calls and read emails that might have to do with the campaign. I hope Barr and Durham look into all the unmaking that was going on . There was some serious abuse of office going on there.

If it were true, yes, but it is not.

You crack me up with your well reasoned arguments. How about some proof of the validity of the piece of garbage otherwise known as the Steele dossier that was used to obtain FISA warrants on Carter Page.

The only thing that was never proven about the Dossier, was the suggestion that Trump could be compromised by the Russians, in that the Russians could have something on him that he could be blackmailed for. They used a hypothetical example- that rumors had it it that Donald Trump had a night with Russian whores in his room in Moscow on a recent visit there. The rumors haven never been substantiated- YET!

    Everything else has been corroborated!

You need to stop smoking what ever you are smoking. The dossier has a Russian consulate in Miami. (There isn't one)

She quoted Steele as saying, “Payments to those recruited are made out of the Russian Consulate in Miami,” according to a copy of her summary memo obtained under open records litigation by the conservative group Citizens United. Kavalec bluntly debunked that assertion in a bracketed comment: “It is important to note that there is no Russian consulate in Miami.”

Kavalec, two days later and well before the FISA warrant was issued, forwarded her typed summary to other government officials. The State Department has redacted the names and agencies of everyone she alerted. It is unlikely that her concerns failed to reach the FBI.

Horowitz says Russian interfered in the election to help Trump, says that the investigation was legal, and says some non-fatal errors were made.

No he said there was a legal reason to BEGIN the investigation. There was no legal reason to continue the investigation. And Barr who knows more because his investigation is wider disagrees with the IG on the legality of starting a counter intelligence investigation on the Trump campaign. We will see who wins that disagreement

WHAT? They found Russia was interfering in our election on an enormous scale and there was no reason to continue the investigation? You must have read the Mueller report since you claim knowledge, how does your wailing comport with the first half where he enumerated the connections between Trumpicans and Russia? How does it explain 6 Trumkpicans in jail for doing it?
That is what the FBI was investigating and if they bumped into Trump and his associates, it is because they were involved. And they were.

You are 100% correct, anyone, and I mean anyone, who actually read the first half of the Mueller Report, especially I believe page 64 on, would see that the Russians were all the Trump campaign, Mueller documented over hundred contacts between the two parties, it seemed the only thing the Russians didn't do was park cars

Collusion was never a consideration since it isn't a crime, and Mueller knew Barr wouldn't allow Trump to be charged with anything, so the complexity of the legalities involved stopped Mueller from pursing allowing Barr to declare no collusion. But you have to be dead, dumb, and blind if you actual read the report and not see the Russian influence

Russia spent 1.5 million a month helping trump win. They had a huge staff of Russian soldiers who were trained in how to communicate with the "proper' American voters. They not only worked with Trump's people, but also sent millions of emails and messages to border liners. Manafort was communicating with them and gave Russia their polling data and lists.
Russia also helped demonstrations against Hillary at her rallies. They did signage and even supplied platforms and buses.
