I know small business owners who do not make that much and they surely cannot afford to pay that to their workers.

Thread fail due to being a lie...as almost every thread by the OP is a lie.
How are we supposed to whine and cry about how miserable we all are when you keep giving us facts?

For most that argue raising the minimum wage to $15, $20, $25 or $30/hr they just don’t care because they don’t understand the economics behind it. The government can’t force a McDonalds in BFE Mississippi to pay workers the same amount as a McDonald’s worker in San Francisco (when we’re talking $15+ hr) and expect there to not be an employment problem. It just doesn’t work that way.

Then they don't need to be in business. If they can't run their business and pay a decent wage then they need to fold.

Business owners get breaks most folks don't get.

They are priority over everyone else.

you're right on mcdonalds. there should be carve outs for small businesses, not big business like we have now. 25 might be too steep though.

    this is every American worker

    teenagers working part time

retired people adding to their earnings

it is a meaningless stat. shame on the op for thinking this is worthy of debate.

Especially if you are a (young) person of color trying to start your own venture.

Depends on what part of the country a person lives, but it is over twice what the OP suggested.
