IF somebody was REALLY 'delusional,' that is no laughing matter. And neither is the seriousness of the political situation in our country. The fact that you find amusement in this very serious matter is troubling.

I was not aware that 'anything but first hand witnesses' were excluded from an actual trial, and this is no normal trial. The President himself has refused to allow the key witnesses to testify. That is not Democrats' fault. It only further implicates the President. If he had nothing to hide, why stonewall Congress?

Again with the laughing over the most serious matter to rock our politics in decades. And no, this is not what Democrats or anybody wanted. An impeachment is a failure of our government to function properly. It is a fail-safe measure built into the Constitution for only the most serious lack of responsibility of an elected official to fulfill their oath of office. What Democrats want is for our country and our government to function in a positive way to represent the will of the people and operate the government we need to keep our country going.

If you think it is a charade you are sadly mistaken. This is a very serious official matter which is striking at the very core of our Constitution, threatening to weaken it.

It would be moot anyway. It has nothing to do with the charges against the President.

Just because you say so or some pundit says so doesn't make it so. Remember, SOME Democrats have wanted this. Remember, no matter WHO is President there is always SOMEBODY who wants impeachment. Have Democrats as a whole wanted this? No! Democratic leaders have RESISTED impeachment, even after the Mueller Report was finalized. If 'Democrats wanted this,' they would have done it based on the Mueller Report. But they did NOT.

This is a failure to distinguish fact from opinion. Very FEW Democrats have said they wanted this. Basically, it is REPUBLICANS SAYING 'Democrats wanted this.' Well, if you make up words and you put them in somebody else's mouth, that doesn't mean they said them. It's what you made up!

Time will tell. There have also been opinion pieces suggesting that Republican Senators might break ranks and actually fulfill their responsibility to honor their oath of office despite the political fallout. They don't take an oath to honor the political fallout of their decisions. They take an oath to honor the Constitution, not the President. And they know that while their decisions may be immediately received in a predictable way, that history may look back on what they do very differently in time. It is not an easy decision.

Hey, nice angle. Very creative. No more realistic than any of the other arguments you've put up, but it does indicate you are still searching for that 'just right' justification for ignoring the facts. After you've exhausted all of those efforts you will be left with the truth. Trump invited and tried to force foreign intervention for the purpose of rigging the 2020 election. This is worse than what Nixon did because Nixon only tried to use domestic means to rig an election.

So let me get this straight. You think anybody who believes Trump committed this misconduct is a 'Trump-hater?' And you think this despite overall convincing evidence of it? You're wrong. You have made an incorrect assumption. I, for one, have been nothing but respectful to President Trump, never called him any names, wished him well, even got on the case of other liberals who have been disrespectful to him. Sure, there are people who sincerely hate President Trump. But the reality is that not everyone who disagrees with his policy hates him. And not everyone who believes he committed impeachable acts hates him. And your assumption that the world is divided into Trump supporters and Trump haters is an extremist view. I know people who support President Trump but do not like him. The world is not black and white.

Now you're dreaming. US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi resisted calls for impeachment until President Trump's inexcusable actions, as reported by a Loyal American at great risk to his or her own life and career, forced her to address the situation. She did her duty to the Constitution, as every member of Congress should also be doing. Republicans are SHIRKING THEIR DUTY and violating their oath of office by defending President Trump when they should be an impartial panel charged with listening to all of the evidence before making up their mind. But no! They have gone into this from the very beginning with prejudice. They have defended President Trump from the beginning. That is not their job! They were not elected to be partisans. They were elected to represent ALL of their constituents, not just the ones who voted for them. They have let those people down. They have violated their oath. They have acted in a strictly partisan manner. It's disgusting to watch.

The misconduct is way above that. The threat to our Constitution is ongoing. It represents a pattern of abuse. It must be stopped. The only way to stop the abuse of power is to remove the President.
There IS NO convincing evidence or democrats wouldn’t have punted on QPQ and gone with abuse of power and obstruction.

And it’s through Pelosi ABUSING congressional power that future presidents will face the prospect of being impeached for ‘abuse of power’—which will be whatever the majority party in the House decides it to be. Far from defending the constitution, democrats are determined to undermine it, just because they can’t wait 11 months for the next election.

Democrats will one day, rue the day, they decided to go down this road.

'Punted.' That's a funny line. You think the Democrats have changed their story? Like, first they tried one thing and you wouldn't believe it, so then they tried something else, and you're not believing that either?
Make no mistake. These are not different charges. They are all one and the same. It has always been abuse of power and obstruction. The QPQ with Zelenski visa vi aid for Biden investigation IS abusing his power by doing a personal political errand on the public's dime. That is a no-no we cannot allow. and to be doing it for the purpose of soliciting foreign intervention into a US election, an election he is trying to rig? This is worse than what Nixon did. Nixon at least kept the abuse and election-rigging domestic. No. We cannot allow a foreign election-rigging attempt of a US election by the President.

Show us the Constitutional violation. Abuse of power can most CERTAINLY be a reason we need to impeach a President. It always has been. The high crime here is breaking his oath to defend the Constitution. By stonewalling Congress, it means any President can refuse to cooperate with any Congress as long as that President can drag out creative appeals in court. This makes the Presidency stronger, weakens the oversight, upsets the balance of powers. That is totally a violation of the Constitution. Trump is not defending the Constitution, he is weakening it. We must have oversight of the President.

That's funny because it's the complete inverse of my belief that history will not be very kind to Donald Trump. He is already pretty much a shoe-in for Worst President Ever.

Senate? Nancy Pelosi is bracing for defections in the House. This circus act may not even make it to the Senate.

I expect that less than five Democrats will have enough integrity to vote against this circus.

I expect that only one Senate Republican (Romney) will vote for this circus. He is still sulking for not being picked by President Trump for Secretary of State.

    We shall see.

You’ve been sold a bill of goods on obstruction.

    https://www.politico.com/story/2019/...holder-1313120

Eric Holder was allowed to take his subpoena before a judge so why doesn’t Trump or other witnesses have the same privilege? Where is that written? It’s hardly a new thing for congress to issue a subpoena and have a court battle ensue. The way it’s supposed to work is that talk of ‘obstruction’ only begins when the party refuses to comply with a court order.

    Moreover, Pelosi knows this.

And yes, Democrats changed their tune—at least three times. It started out as QPQ/extortion till Democrats went to a flipping focus group and found out that wasn’t working so they finally settled on bribery. Then finally, they went with the *dangerously* amorphous ‘abuse of power’. Because they only have their *suspicions* as evidence for bribery.

Which, as I pointed out, WILL set the precedent for future impeachment’s. All the House needs to do is figure out a way to fit something into ‘abuse of power’ and their off to the impeachment races.

You realize every time a president does something not authorized by Congress that’s, technically, an abuse of power, right? Can we post-impeach Obama for destroying Libya?

Do the country a favor and don’t open this can of worms.

OK, so Trump is using that to say he is unimpeachable as long as he can tie it up in court. Trump is basically saying he is above the law. That's going too far. We can't have an unimpeachable President. Nobody can be above the law. Republicans are foolish to support that.

No, you're drawing too much out of it. But it's interesting you bring up President Obama because if he did what Trump did you would be totally in favor of impeaching him and removing him from office. There would be no conceivable way on Earth that you would be fighting it like you are fighting this one. The only reason you're defending Trump is because he is a Republican. That's putting party over nation. It's being disloyal to America.

Republicans are shirking their duty by defending President Trump. Their oath says they are supposed to determine if evidence exists that the President should be removed. Only the House can impeach. It is their responsibility. America depends on that body to oversee the President. Nobody else. They swear to do it when they take the office. Republicans have done everything possible to avoid recognizing any of the evidence. They have clearly been defending the President. That is not OK. They are not supposed to defend the President. Not their job. Their oath says they swear to be loyal to the Constitution, not the President. Defending the President is purely partisan, and now it violates their oath. Republicans should be ashamed.

Slow down just a minute lol.

When did Trump ‘rig an election’? I hope you’re not talking about the Trump/Russian nonsense because Horowitz disposed of that. And there IS NO EVIDENCE—that would stand up in any fair court—that Trump was trying to ‘rig an election’ with Zelensky.

Trump is a corrupt fascist nationalist. We fought the Nazis there, we need to defeat them here.
The first step is branding this corrupt fascist nationalist with an I on his forehead. Next is voting his ass out
and replacing him with a moderate Democratic candidate to restore sanity and stability.

Except for the Nazi nonsense I almost hit the like button lol.

Yes, get rid of Trump via *legitimate means* or not all. Try to talk some sense into your comrades.
