Not all dealers are well known as being dealers. Some conceal their activities to hide from employers, parents, spouses, etc. Some do it just for the money and don't do drugs at all.
When those dealers get caught, it's generally from being set up by someone they know who got nailed for DUI or something they want to help themselves out of, and the cops can be quite persuasive when a person is scared.

You just contradicted yourself. They have made a number of non-violent crimes felonies over the years. Even for the smallest of crimes, you can lose your rights for life. You can go 30 years without even a parking ticket, hold a good job and still not regain your rights.

For example, Pennsylvania law makes it a crime for any person to use a communication facility to commit, cause or facilitate the commission or the attempt thereof of any crime which constitutes a felony under The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act. These crimes include:

So, in other words, it's a felony if you call someone who is a drug dealer, even if it's not drug related, and if the calls are on the dealer's phone records, you can be arrested and it is then up to you to prove you are innocent!
