This is lowering the bar on impeachment—and then lowering it again. Just by having the Senate trial it would lend credence to it; then all it would take to impeach the next president is for the opposing party to hold the House so they can ‘craft’ abuse of power articles. And around we go.

ideally it will be dismissed for lack of a "impeachable offense" (high cime and misdemeanor)

And if the liberal Congress critters follow though, the next Democrat President probably won't make it past the first year.

Plus any "leverage" against another country, that involves pretty much anything, will be seen as collusion and bribery.
