Facts by a witness without first hand knowledge of facts are “presumptions, fantasies, or third hand information.”

    In other words, gossip.

At the time I took my vacation from the forum last spring, I was certain that impeachment would be an undertaking that would cause the Democrats political damage...and would almost certainly end up with an acquittal. I was dead-set against it.

Somehow, I came to my senses.

The escalating damaging conduct of the president simply cannot be ignored. Impeachment, in my opinion, has become an imperative for the safety of the Republic.

I still am sure the spineless Republican senators will acquit...and I am concerned that the Democrats WILL pay a price during the election, but I am delighted that they have the guts to do what is correct despite the possible cost. In the meantime, I am hoping the electorate is sophisticated enough to see impeachment as an imperative rather than as a negative.

    So am I.

It is unprecedented. Every previous President who was impeached has furnished materials and allowed testimony. Trump is the first in history to totally stonewall Congress on this. He can only do that because of the power of his cult. Cult members simply can not see the evidence against him. It's there, but their minds won't allow them to observe it because that destroys everything they believe in. They would be left without any of the beliefs they feel their lives are built upon. It's terrifying, unimaginable.

It doesn't matter how plain and obvious the evidence is, they have been given 'alternative facts' by the Republican House members who, instead of do their Constitutional duty to scrutinize the President's misconduct, they came to his defense in a shamelessly partisan matter. No matter what the glaring and extremely abusive troubling evidence may be, Republicans have been given their BS counter talking point as an 'easy-out' way of dismissing or 'negating' the evidence. Often that sadly amounts to no more than whataboutism.

This is clearly a situation which calls upon Congressional Republicans to forget which party they are in and just do their job, actually fulfill the oath of office they took when THEY were sworn in. Be brave. Brave enough to do your duty to Country, even if it may not be the most politically advantageous thing for YOU. Do your duty. They SWORE they would protect and defend the Constitution, but instead they are weakening it. They are now saying that any President who is within the time period by which a court battle over evidence might be drawn out in the courts, of the end of his term, that he is above the law, answers to no one, and cannot be impeached. And it doesn't matter if it's a Republican President or Democrat, or any other party. Doesn't matter, he CAN NOT BE REMOVED. Above the law.

That's what they are saying. They just don't know it. The Cult thing again, They can't see it. It's there, they just can't see it. Scary. What an effective con man. Greatest ever.

We need to change our Constitution.

    Sounds like a plan.

I imagine there could be disagreement from all three branches, though.
