Default Texans to stop Trump from stealing their land.

President Donald Trump’s pledge to build a wall at the southern border with Mexico has been a huge winner with his base. But there is one group of people who are not happy: the Texans who actually live in the region where the wall would be built.

Many people in the region have no intention of letting the federal government seize their land to construct the wall, like Afghanistan war veteran Salvador Castillo of Brownsville, who received a letter from officials demanding unlimited access to and use of his land, which gradually escalated into a lawsuit

We were astonished,” said Castillo. “We were like, ‘Hell no!’ We don’t like this. It’s very intrusive.”

The Trump administration has so far build 85 miles of new fencing, but most of it is just upgrades to fencing that already existed. Building new barriers in Texas is a unique challenge, because most of the border there is privately owned — and the owners are willing to fight in court to protect their home and their way of life.

“I stopped answering the door,” said Castillo’s wife Yvette Arroyo, who said she was visited by attorneys, Border Patrol agents, and Army personnel. “Going to battle against the federal government is not something we will win. But we are not going to take this lying down.”

More and more republican voters in Texas are being alienated by trump. It will show at the ballot box.

Not many of those along the border are republicans.

Trump's calculation is the people he has terrified of border crossers will outnumber those he offends by taking their land. We have had illegals crossing to better their opportunities for generations. You would think we would be used to it by now. But Trump succeded in scaring the Americans. Yeah, there are many many Mexicans crossing the borders with 75 lbs of drugs strapped to their calves. people buy that crap.

Eminent domain is nasty business here in Texas. We have some of the best Eminent Domain lawyers in the US.

However we do have a border to protect. But the good news is most transit areas are already fenced, and it is sufficient. A lot of the Rio Grande through Big Bend National park is comprised of steep canyons, so no fencing is needed there. The Texas Border is pretty much fenced already. Has been for several presidents now.

Not sure what Trump is trying to do- perhaps replace it with something he picked out or something.

We have a slogan here- Don't Mess With Texas"!

The fence is a political tool. It has proven to be very successful. Trump thinks he gets votes from it. So he will not stop. He is spending huge bucks to fence the unpassable and empty lands so roadrunners and Gila monsters don't get to the US.

I'm still laughing about the moat he wanted filled with crocodiles and sharks, and the razor sharp points he wants on the top of every vertical Bar in the fence!

If Donald Trump's brain were chocolate, it wouldn't fill an M & M!

Tell the dummies to read the Constitution. This is a legitimate exercise of Federal power. They will lose.

Brilliant comment. That puts them south of the wall with no way to head north to the rest of their property.
Furthermore do you think the people north of there will be any more willing to give up their land?
