The takeaway from the NATO conference
Is that none of the other world leaders take Trump seriously.
They know he’s the drunk uncle who won’t remember what he committed to, will lash out regardless of what they do and is given to standing on the back lawn drunk and naked, ranting about the New World Order.
Boris Johnson avoided him more strenuously this year. The royals rolled their eyes and tolerated him when they had to speak with him. Trudeau merely said out loud what the other leaders he was with were thinking, which is that Trump is a grandstanding buffoon who is a detriment to the proceedings.
We are at a moment in time when 350 US psychiatrists, including one who assisted former Presidents with psychological profiling of world leaders in preparation for negotiations, are sending an open letter to Congress telling them that impeachment is going to make Trump worse due to his lack of any stable sense of self worth. Yale and George Brown senior psychiatrists are drivers.
Trudeau can’t care what Trump calls him because Trump throws his long-term friends under the bus and reviles them. The accident of having been a national leader at the time of the US train wreck is unfortunate, but not personal.
