I seem to recall that Glenn Beck got in trouble for the same kind of scam crap, only with gold (Goldline was the company). He would convince his viewers/readers that the economy was close to collapse because Obama, then his program (and website) would feature Goldline products, vendors selling "crazy food" (what Mr. Owl calls those bulk food supplies preppers buy), and so on.

So it would seem that RW media has perfected the art of "Scare the flock and then fleece 'em good."
