The vast majority of Representatives and Senators are embarrassed by Trump. If they see weakness, they will turn on him. Many of them are serious and intelligent people who are not happy with Trump's floundering and ignoring laws and standards. They will not give up their seats to fight him, but will happily pile on if they see him as weak enough.
