I am amused how leftists, who once proclaimed we had no business in the ME, now declare that we should engage in endless struggles that lead nowhere in the ME.

Democrats and the PHONY media are the definition of lying hypocrites.

Do you think he would do that without a nod and a wink from Trump? Not many people will believe that. Certainly not the US forces who are there and can see it with their own eyes.
Turkey has been waging a war against the PKK for well over 30 years, this will not sit well with Turkish Kurds.

Says 20% of Turkey are Kurds. Will they not rise up for the slaughter of their own? Or are there different factions? Seems dangerous to me but I don't profess to understand the machinations and allegiances of the warring RELIGIOUS factions.

Turkey launches ‘massive attacks’ on the Kurds — US military are ‘sickened’ by Trump’s betrayal: report

Turkey launched a new offensive against the Kurds in Northern Syria, NBC chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel reported Saturday evening.

Engel hashtagged his update with #AmericanBetrayal.

“Massive attacks underway against the kurds in northern syria. No ceasefire. Total nonsenses there is,” Engel reported.

President Donald Trump reportedly greenlighted the operation against the Kurds during a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

“US military officials tell me they are ashamed, ‘sickened.’ It’s cold now outside. What about the families, and kids, out of their homes?” he wondered.

Trump praised Erdoğan during a White House visit on Thursday.

The more I talk talk to sources, the more i’m hearing America’s betrayal of the Kurds, and the humiliation, “misogynistic” “squashing” of US ambassador in Ukraine for political motivations makes people think, we, Americans, have become the “bad guys.” Hearing it was gut punch.

These are the Kurdish majority areas of TURKEY:

The eastern one-third of Turkey is essentially Kurdish. It's only "Turkish" because the Turks had a strong srmy (by M.E. standards) at the end of WWI.

I don't profess to understand the machinations and allegiances of the warring RELIGIOUS factions.
They are not religious factions. Almost all Kurds are Sunni Muslim, like Turks. Apart from that, Kurds and Turks have little or no cultural affinity.

I don't know if there will be a major uprising, but it's not out of the question if Erdogan persists.

Erdogan isn't going to listen to Trump one way or the other.
    It considers the PKK "terrorists"
( the real reason for the "safe zones" is not room for Syrian refugees -it's to create a buffer against the Kurds.)

This has been going on for a long time. Erdogan has gone into Syria recently as well
before we had our "observers " there that Trump re-positioned. Erdogan is very strong willed.

When he had that phone call with Trump he wasn't asking for permission, he was simply notifying Trump
to get his troops out of harm's way. Erdogan was going in whether trump stayed or not.

Bend over Mr. Erdogan, I'll kiss your ass. Dead kids, not my problem. I have "2 TOWERS in Turkey."

In December 2015, Trump stated in a radio interview that he had a "conflict of interest" in dealing with Turkey because of his property, saying "I have a little conflict of interest, because I have a major, major building in Istanbul ... It's called Trump Towers. Two towers, instead of one. Not the usual one, it's two.
