Default Pence adviser says Trump request that Ukraine open Biden probe was 'unusual and inapp

An adviser to Vice President Mike Pence told House impeachment investigators this month that President Trump's request for Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to open an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his family "struck me as unusual and inappropriate" and "shed some light on possible other motivations behind a security assistance hold."

"During the call itself, Morrison said he was concerned by how "obsequious" Zelensky sounded toward Trump and added that the conversation "was not the full-throated endorsement of the Ukraine reform agenda that I was hoping to hear.""

Well. if you were an actor who just became President of a fledgling democracy fighting for survival against a very powerful foe, you'd want the help of a very powerful friend. You would want to make sure you don't do anything to anger the unpredictable American President.

Ukraine is fighting Russia. Zelensky would have blown him for those missiles. He is newly elected and he could not have permitted them to lose them. Trump had all the power and he used it for a "favor". It is like the godfather asking for a favor. It is not a request. You know he has lots of ways to hurt you. Ukraine needs Trump a lot more than Trump needs them.

How did these two advisers do in the 2016 election? And you get this stuff from Fox? How can you believe that!

Was Morrison listening in on this "infamous call"? Isn't it illegal to listen in on a private phone conversation, then make it public?
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

It was effectively a group call since there were several listeners.

Leaking a call between the president and a foreign leader is illegal but we’re long past where that matters any more.

Her’s is just another in a long list of *conflicting* opinions about the conversation between Trump and Zelensky. This thing has been blown way out of proportion by democrats and it should have never gotten this far. Even granting the most nefarious assumptions [and they are absolutely assumptions] about the call *no actions were taken* by Zelensky.

It’s the same old-same old. Trump was accused of obstructing Mullet without ever actually obstructing him.

If it’s even possible for Trump-haters to look at it objectively, they’d realize that the call had the appearance of impropriety: that’s basically what these opinions amount to. And even that, depends on how it is interpreted. Some ‘witnesses’ didn’t see a problem with it and the call was even cleared by the DOJ.

Throw in the fact no actions were taken by Zelensky and one might ask ‘why the hell are we doing this?’

I have no idea. Well, I do actually. Ironically, the over the top ‘impropriety’ belongs to the Biden’s and it involved more than a conversation that turned out to be a waste of breath. If democrats had any sense, they would have seen this coming—but it’s come out that Biden’s ‘appearance of impropriety’ was *glaring* enough that it became an issue under Obama.

And there’s very likely more to come. Again, if Democrats had any sense, they would find another tree to bark up because this one could spell trouble.
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017

Trump was loud on the call that was taken by Sondland in a restaurant on loudspeaker. There were more people who heard it including other diners and waiters. Nope, not private at all.

Sounds like some Deep State horseshit to me.

I have been assured by forthright and unimpeachably honest rightwing posters on this very board that it was a "perfect phone call'"

In a restaurant? Then there should be a lot of others who never were in the Whitehouse to make these claims also. Where are these "citizens" who also heard this?
