Default MCCONNELL CAN force a rule change to FORCE TRUMP OUT--3REPS with ALL DEMS can do it!

Very interesting! You know about a month back, Lawrence O'Donnell alluded to a rule that could essentially fast track impeachment (?). If I understood what he was saying, he might have been talking about this. He was coy, grinned as he talked to--I think a sitting SEN. He didn't go into any detail and the person he was interviewing didn't seem to know what ODonnell was referring to. Remember O'Donnell worked for Daniel Patrick Moynihan who was one of the giants of the Senate. I wonder if this was it!

If I were MC CONNELL I would sure as hell consider JUMPING ALL OVER THIS! NO, I am NOT speaking as a DEMOCRAT. If I were a REP SENATOR I would be all over this!! THINK ABOUT IT!

(I'm making the URL REALLY BIG to POLITICO so the assholes here don't trash it because it came 'from' RAWSTORY!)

Three GOP senators could force a rule change leading to Trump’s impeachment — here’s why McConnell might go for it

According to a column written for Politico by a former senior adviser to multiple Republican lawmakers, there is a path to forcing Donald Trump from office that would only require three GOP senators to join forces with the Democrats.

Under the heading, “There’s a Surprisingly Plausible Path to Removing Trump From Office,” Juleanna Glover — who served as an adviser to former President George W. Bush and ex-Vice President Dick Cheney — laid out a simple way to force an impeachment vote that would be conducted in secret, freeing GOP senators to turn on the president without fear of repercussions.

As she writes, “A secret impeachment ballot might sound crazy, but it’s actually quite possible. In fact, it would take only three senators to allow for that possibility.”

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he will immediately move to hold a trial to adjudicate the articles of impeachment if and when the Senate receives them from the House of Representatives. Article I, Section 3, of the Constitution does not set many parameters for the trial, except to say that ‘the Chief Justice shall preside,’ and ‘no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present,'” she explained. “That means the Senate has sole authority to draft its own rules for the impeachment trial, without judicial or executive branch oversight.”...

If McConnell could arrange for a secret vote on impeachment, that would probably be the best thing to do, because McConnell also needs to consider that Trump could very well be a liability for the GOP in 2020; case and point look at what happened to the GOP house in 2018.

This could also back fire on the dems. If trump is removed a lot of repubs that hate trump would return to the gop party.

Man, I would think this would SIMPLIFY life immeasurably for ALL REPS. And they don't even need to put their name on it! Not to mention THE DRAG of Trump on all the moderates, INDs, and (suburban women). POOF he's gone! Then they have an entire year to bring the aforementioned voters along and they won't NEED Trump's 37%.

DAMN, certainly is intriguing isn't it? NOT A CLUE how it all works but I'll assume someone has the SENATE rules nailed down.

John, I have also though about the point that you're making, and you maybe right, that if Trump stays in office till the next election, that might just benefit the Democrats.

But the country is going to suffer IMMEASURABLY. Not to mention Trump will RAPE AND PILLAGE everything he can possibly take and destroy between election day and JAN 20, 2020. Both are facts.

I share your view, but Trump has got his fanatical base behind him, and this maybe the best that we can hope for, unfortunately.

Ain't happening, largely for two reasons

One, Senators as Grahamn, Kennedy, Paul, and the like, will want to have their day in the Senate procedures, get their face on all the FOX shows, besides, Mitch will set the rules, so the Democrats won't have much of a say in now the proceedings transpire. Too big an event they control for them to waste exposure

Second, Mitch is up for reelection, and he would be too scared of what Trump could do to him back in Kentucky to even think of ithe idea

Actually, I think MANY would breathe a sigh of relief. It forces them NOT to have to make 'that' decision. Poof he's gone. All their cognitive dissonance goes along with it.

    I would not underestimate that.

    I don't either. You're not a TRUMP FOLLOWER?

(I like the concept, the execution sucks. All the CRAPSHIT that has to pass before your eyes to get to the meat was more than I can stand. I 'undid' it last week. Admittedly I didn't probably know how to turn on all the filters, maybe I could have streamlined it.
