How else can you characterise the fact that China, and India, have both been given a bye on emissions till 2030 despite being the two biggest emitters of CO2? The US has reduced CO2 emissions more than any other country and didn't need to sign up to anything to do it. Daily record highs were set on several days during fall's first week in the South. Now, that has been capped off by all-time record heat for the month of October.

More than a dozen cities in the East, from upstate New York to the Florida Panhandle, set all-time October record highs on Tuesday.

Nashville, Tennessee, hit 98 degrees on Tuesday, crushing its previous all-time October heat record of 94 degrees.

Monday's high of 97 degrees in Louisville, Kentucky, also easily toppled the city's previous October record of 93 degrees.

Meridian, Mississippi, preliminarily broke the Mississippi state record high for October when it hit 101 degrees on Tuesday, according to Weather Underground historian Christopher Burt.

There seems to be an almost perfect correlation in the U.S. between the parts of the nation where denial is the most recalcitrant and where climate impacts are projected to be the worst.

Many of them work for the government as well. Oddly enough, it is the same govt. that claims that climate change is a "Chinese hoax."

Anecdote alert: I am cyber friends with a guy who now lives in Wyoming and who is retired from the U.S. military (I think Navy but I could be wrong). I "met" him because his hobby then and now was taking spectacular photos of the night sky, aurora, and landscapes. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska for many years, as a scientist commissioned to study the effects (if any) on climate change in that state. This was of military importance of course. Their data at that time (~2000-2001) was showing that the Arctic regions were already starting to show signs of increasing temperatures. They collected the data and dutifully submitted it when required. At some point after Bush was selected, they were told to stop collecting their data and discovered that prior information submitted had been wiped. He left the service shortly after that and moved to Wyoming where he stays to this day.

Interesting, eh? It would seem that denial isn't just a Trumpanzee thing.
