At the beginning of the season Trevor Lawrence at Clemson was considered the favorite for the Heisman. But throwing 5 interceptions to 7 TDs is not helping. Plus, their schedule has them virtually disappearing from the news.

Other players with good chances?

Tua Tagovailoa has looked good this year. If he stays healthy he will make his mark. He has already racked up 17 TDs with no interceptions and a QB rating of 96.4 and has thrown for 1,300 yards.

Jalen Hurts is off to a great start and will burn up the Big12, for what that's worth. He has 9 TDs and the best QB rating in college football at 96.8.

Justin Fields is looking like a top QB at Ohio State.

Sam Ehlinger at Texas is putting up good numbers for the Longhorns and could content. 1,237 yards and 9 TDs show he can play.


But the one that stands out to me is Joe Burrow. He went from a backup at OSU to a game manager at LSU last year to a gunslinger this year. He has thrown for 17 TDs with 2 interceptions and a QB rating of 93.2. Yeah, most of that is against, as someone said, tomato cans. But the game against Texas was solid.

The only two of those mentioned that played a quality opponent so far are Burrow and Ehlinger. Still very early.
Lawrence won't even be truly tested until he gets to the CFP.
I doubt Tua will have any problems against LSU's D. Auburn will be his biggest test.
Looking forward to Hurts and Ehlinger when they play each other.

There’s actually two candidates at OSU in J.K.Dobbins. He and Hubbard are tearing it up with over 7.1 and 7.3 yards per carry respectively. If either can maintain that average for the rest of the season they will definitely be in the discussion.

Meh...Fields is good. I can see why Georgia let him go based on his throwing mechanics. OSU spent a lot...and I mean a lot of time with him on that and he's improved tremendously but based on what I've seen Fields would never make it in the NFL. His mechanics are awful and he over throws his target a lot due to poor mechanics but he is a great all around athlete...he's just not a great QB.

So I don't see Fields beating out Hurts or Tua or Burrows in the QB department. I'd also throw Johnathon Taylor of Wisconsin into the mix. He's a beast and if he has a great day against OSU and keeps putting up the numbers and Wisconsin wins the Big 10 Championship then he will definately be in the discussion.
