It occurred to me the other day that when the USA wanted to enslave people we went to less developed areas and used force to destroy villages and enslave people, then take them against their will away to a land they never wanted to go to.

But now when people from those same places wish to come to the USA, Trump doesn't want to let them, (calling those countries you know what,) even though it is very possible they could be joining long lost distant relatives.

When they didn't want to come here we forced them to. When they do want to come here, we refuse to let them.

    Making America great again?

Sounds like what is being made great is our hypocrisy.

In the UK it was distant and belonged to the usual thieves; our kind of crap was all about how we were 'improving' those we robbed. Makes for naïve self-importance, like that of the Brexiteers.
Slave owners created this narrative that they were 'helping' the slaves by 'giving them a good life,' and that they were 'too stupid to do any better for themselves.' All of these myths were made up as a way for slave owners to get beyond the guilt of what they were doing.

    Hi Politalker,

Your tongue in cheek comment aside, yes the Democratic party has changed a lot. 30 years ago, they used to be the party that blue collar, hardworking Americans could support. Now they are the party of hate whitey, hate the police, buy votes with "free stuff", take away people's rights, socialism, etc. etc.

It's sad really. I used to vote for Democrats when I was younger. I'm not sure if it was because I was young and foolish or if the party was worth respecting back then.

Many Democrats became Republicans following the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

Now, many Republicans seem to have reached a limit to their tolerance of hatred. It's hard to keep up with how many Republicans have announced their retirement from Congress. What's it up to since Trump took over? 18?

Reality: In a republic such as is the United States of America...slavery existed because THE PEOPLE wanted it to legally exist, but that does not stop this universal truth upon which this nation was founded from being TRUE. All men are created equal. Truth never evolves....but societies do. When society evolved to the point of accepting slavery in form of flesh peddling as a property..as an evil, The Rule of law changed to reflect that evolution proving that the Constitution was drafted with societal evolution in mind.

Don't fool yourself....slavery (not flesh peddling) but slavery is still alive and well with the Untied States leading the way....its called the PENAL SYSTEM, with the US being the holder (per capita) and having the honor of the STATE owning more humans than any other nation on earth. As we speak slavery exists in the US criminal justice system which holds almost 2.3 million people in slavery to the states (1,719 state prisons) (109 federal prisons) (1,1772 juvenile correction detention centers) (3, 163 local/county jails) and (80 Native American county jails) not to mention the military prisons, immigration detention centers, psych hospitals....etc.

The point: There is such a thing as JUSTIFIABLE SLAVERY......society has evolved to call it a JUSTICE SYSTEM. Not one of these individuals are of their own free will properties of the STATE.

But...as history actual points out......slavery (the practice of enslaving innocent human beings for the purpose of calling them private property) was a DEMOCRAT endeavor.
I really don't give a shit about ancient history and if I were around when the left may have been racist I would have been a republican. But I'm not. I'm around when every fucking white supremacist is a trump supporter as are 99% of your racists. It's glaringly obvious to anyone with the sense to admit it.

I thought the right lauded Lincoln because he was against slavery? You certainly like to show what side of the fence you are on. No wonder you display a "trump 4eva" icon, you are as racist as that shithead.

    Hi Politalker,

I don't see "hate" in the president's policies. If feel like it is an intentionally inflammatory word that doesn't accurately convey the situation.
