Of course, that is inevitable in time. Our entire planet will one day be consumed by the sun. But that day is VERY far off into the future. (Billions of years) Humanity will be gone from this planet before that happens. There is no reason to rush to that point. We can have a very long existence here and possibly learn to travel to other habitable planets in the duration. But for now our challenge is to preserve the conditions which allow us to thrive.

I will call this argument 1).

Pretending that 7.5 billion humans have no effect on our environment is pointless. We do, and we can control what we do. We have just got to start thinking bigger.

Climate change can be caused by humans or other causes. If other causes are already responsible for a portion of it and industrial activity is added on top of that it means if we want our goldilocks climate back we have to take serious action. We have to find ways to reduce the carbon in the atmosphere. And worse, it is dissolving into the sea and having disastrous consequences there too.

We have to take unprecedented action and pronto.

The good news is there are a lot of great new jobs to be had in tackling climate change.

We can turn this effort into a total win/win.

When man was less civilized and scientifically knowledgeable perpetual wars, disease and famine were good controllers of the population. Too bad we don't have so much of those any more.

Now that we are more scientifically knowledgeable we understand what our technology is doing to our environment and how to control our birth rate. This gives us the knowledge not only to change our ways on environmental considerations, but also on population expansion. We are smart enough to create a far better future for ourselves. The only question is if we can convince those who lack forward vision to allow progressives to build that better future. We are our own greatest threat. If we could just reach a consensus on these major issues, a fantastic future awaits full of unimaginable awesomeness.
